Filling in to co-lead a hike this Sunday.

Easy pace, 3-4 mile r/t, 900’gain, evening hike Seaview park, Laguna Niguel. Meet 3:00 pm at entrance to Seaview park. Directions from I-5 & Alicia Pkwy: Alicia Pkwy south towards the ocean for 6.2 miles, R on Pacific Island Drive go 1.2 miles, R at Talavera Drive (top of hill) go 0.3 miles to park at end of road near entrance to Seaview Park . DO NOT enter the gated community Laguna Sur. No restrooms on this hike. Bring snacks, sturdy shoes, 2 quarts water, & $ for optional dinner after hike. Rain cancels.


Badlands Park borders the southeast corner of Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park. The park is perched on the oceanfront cliffs near the mouth of Aliso Canyon, 780 feet above South Laguna. It sits amid eroding sandstone cliffs with exposed slopes covered with coastal scrub and sage. The area is on the site of an ancient beach dating back 10 million years. From the park and adjoining cliff-hugging trails are views of Dana Point, Salt Creek Beach, South Laguna, Catalina Island, San Clemente Island, Aliso Peak, and the San Joaquin Hills.
